Right now, my tomato plants are bursting with blooms and new growth --- but still no tomatoes! I realize that patience is a virtue, but I can hardly wait! The thought of my first home grown tomatoes since 2005 provokes tantilizing images of fresh salads topped with savory fruits.
I have four varieties growing currently: Black Cherry, Window Box Roma, Micro Tom and Basket Boy Red.
If you listen very carefully, you can hear the plants laughing at my impatience...

Hi Alexandria! I never forget my Kansas City (actually, Lee's Summit MO) tomatoes! Midwestern sun and heat make them big and tasty! They were big growing even in the not-improved soil. I used to share them with my friends and neighbors. Here, in the NW, summers are shorter and cooler and tomatoes are not as big. Your patience will be rewarded!
Taty, thank you for your well-observed comment! The tomatoes will be awesome because of the heat and humidity, but now that you mention it---I miss the cool NW summers.
Yes, I know what you mean. I remember being able to stay outside til 8a.m. and after 7-8 p.m. Hold on there!
I've enjoyed visiting your blog and will make sure to return. I can hardly wait for the summer tomatoes!
GP, thank you for stopping by. You and I both are impatient for those scrumptious summer tomatoes.
That's exactly how my tomato plants are looking right now too! I want some freakin tomatoes already :)
