Attack of the Killer Tomato!

Over the past few weeks, this Black Cherry tomato plant has gone from taking up only half of its cage to bursting out of it. At this point the cage can barely contain this beast! I've watched this plant grow on a daily basis. Every day its height and girth increased. Above is a before and after photo spliced together. I could barely get this crazy plant in frame.

Nice, that's a beautiful, healthy looking plant.

Thanks for the compliment, BB. It's definately healthy. I just tied it to the top of the cage, as its long stems were flopping over in the heat.

So have you been able to harvest any 'maters yet?

I haven't been able to harvest any tomatoes yet, Janet. The tomato plants are filled with blooms --- just teasing me as to what comes next.

Thanks for the warning -- I, too, have this tomato planted (never planted this kind before)! Mine was so very small when I got it -- in a styrofoam cup from a vendor at my local farmers' market. Will need to keep an eye on it!

Oh, I'm glad you read my post! You were going to be in for a big shock later on otherwise. Mine came in a small 4-part plastic container. Given the fact that it's supposed to deliver cherry tomatoes I didn't expect this rate or scope of growth. By the way, I have it in a 21-inch pot.
